There are several ways you can protect yourself from property fraud

1. Check ownership records on few times a year.

2. Make sure you are receiving your annual notice of assessment from the Tax Assessor's Office.  It is mailed out mid April every year.

3. Make sure you are receiving your annual property tax bill.

4. Or sign up for FANS, Filing Activity Notification System.

*FANS Is a Notification System which is designed to offer individuals the ability to receive a notification when certain real estate and personal property records are filed with, indexed, and data is transmitted by Clerks Of Superior Court throughout the state of Georgia.

Individuals may opt-in to this voluntary system designed to send eletronic notification to the filing and of a document in select offical county records when document index data entered and transmitted to The Georgia Superior Clerks' Cooperative Authority by the Clerk matches the notification criteria you set.
